Site ecologist - Doncaster, South Yorkshire

CS Ecology were sub-contracted by URS in 2012 to undertake a great crested newt capture programme. Grass snakes were also present at the site and a small number them were also caught and relocated to suitable sites during the GCN works. CS Ecology also provided clerk of works services on an ad-hoc basis which enabled the project to proceed with minimal disruption.


Reptile specialist - Wallasea Island, Essex

CS Ecology were sub-contracted in 2012 by DF Clark Bionomique Ltd. to provide an experienced herpetologist and adder handler to assist and supervise other (non-DF Clark) ecologists during reptile translocation works at the RSPB Wallasea Island Wild Coast project.


Protected species and habitat surveys - Sellafield, Cumbria

CS Ecology were sub-contracted by AMEC in 2012 to supervise and assist AMEC ecologists in delivering a suite of protected species surveys to inform of ecological constraints to the proposed new Sellafield site. Surveys undertaken included: Phase 1 habitat; river habitat surveys; badger; otter; water vole; natterjack toad; reptile; bats and bat tree assessment.


Protected species surveys - Thruscross, North Yorkshire

CS Ecology were contracted by Thruscross Energy Ltd. in 2012 to undertake a suite of protected species surveys to inform of any likely constraints to a small-scale HEP scheme near Thruscross reservoir, North Yorkshire.


Great crested newt survey - Marley Hill, Gateshead

CS Ecology were sub-contracted by AMEC in 2012 to undertake GCN surveys of a series of ponds at a former industrial site near Gateshead. A large population of GCN were found to be present in spite of the large amounts of rainfall which made survey conditions difficult at times.
